The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.
April 17
• On San Juan, a deputy received a report of an assault; however, the reporting party did not wish to pursue criminal charges.
• A deputy on Orcas assisted Orcas Fire and Rescue with a patient suffering from multiple fall injuries. The patient was transferred via air ambulance to a higher level of care.
• Deputies investigated a death on San Juan which appeared to be of natural causes.
April 18
• A deputy on San Juan was dispatched to a theft. The caller said the products had been removed from a roadside stand without payment.
• A Lopez deputy and Lopez Fire & EMS were dispatched to a trauma-basic life support call.
• A deputy responded to a reported domestic dispute in a public place in Eastsound. Further investigation revealed the incident was an argument between a father and son. No crimes were committed and the dispute was said to be over.
• San Juan deputies located an individual with a felony warrant, arrested them, and booked them into jail.
April 19
• A recently arrested Lopez resident was seen driving despite an order from the court that prohibited them from that activity. The deputy notified the court of the violation.
• A deputy responded to a reported assault in Eastsound. The victim had reportedly been struck in the back by a rock thrown by the suspect causing injury. The suspect was later located and booked into San Juan County Jail for third-degree assault.
• A Lopez deputy responded to the death of a person. The investigation is ongoing.
• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of a DUI. While the deputy searched for the driver, someone reported an individual acting disorderly at a local business. The two calls were deemed to be related and the individual was arrested for DUI.
April 20
• A deputy was dispatched to a report of malicious mischief in the Friday Harbor area. The caller said their vehicle had been broken into overnight. No other information was available at the time of the report.
• A San Juan deputy attempted to stop a driver suspected in a case of vandalism. The driver refused to stop and drove home. As the deputy attempted to arrest the driver, the driver tried to retrieve a baseball bat from the vehicle. The driver was ultimately booked on several charges.
April 21
• Deputies were dispatched to a report of a domestic incident in Friday Harbor. Once on the scene, the deputies contacted the people involved and found none were injured in the incident.
April 22
• Deputies on Orcas responded to a person in crisis. After speaking with the individual and connecting them with a resource to assist them in their needs, deputies cleared the scene.
• Deputies on San Juan responded to a report of a deceased individual in the water and recovered the body.
• On San Juan, a deputy took a report of threats. The reporting party did not wish to pursue criminal charges but did wish to obtain a no-contact order. The deputy referred reporting party to the courts to petition for a no-contact order.
April 23
• Deputies and Lopez Fire & EMS were dispatched to the elementary school on a report of an assault. After an investigation, it was determined that two students engaged in an altercation during recess.
• A deputy on San Juan responded to a civil issue that involved a landlord having ongoing tenant issues, including the possibility of theft.
• On San Juan, deputies responded with EMS to a report of an individual who had reportedly consumed too much alcohol. The individual was evaluated by EMS and was transported to the ER for further care. The individual then ran out of the hospital, then returned, then left again.
