San Juan County Sheriff Bill Cumming confirmed this week that break-ins continue to occur in Eastsound businesses, including one at the Sheriff’s Office off Mt. Baker Road.
Cumming said that about two weeks ago, “a breach of security” occurred at the county building and that someone entered. A bicycle that was part of the investigation in another case was stolen. The investigation to the breach of security is continuing, Cumming said.
He added that there had been two burglaries the last week in October within the downtown Eastsound area. Cumming advised the public to “make sure buildings are secure, and any evidence of tampering needs to be reported immediately.”
“Officers on patrol schedules are on the lookout for late-night and early morning activity,” Cumming said.
