Orcas man charged with assault, stalking and harassment

Kirby G. Siek, 36, of Eastsound, has been charged with assault in the first degree with a deadly weapon; stalking; and harassment. He was arrested after a search by multiple deputies and a drone on Orcas Island.

Siek was released on $500,000 bail during his preliminary appearance on Sept. 3 and ordered not to leave Washington, to comply with the terms of a domestic violence no-contact order and to surrender firearms. His arraignment is scheduled for Sept. 16.

According to the probable cause report, on Aug. 29, Siek allegedly confronted the victim at an Eastsound gas station and called her at work against her wishes. On the morning of Sept. 1, the victim received a threatening voicemail from Siek. Mid-day, she noticed Siek in her driveway, wearing a wig. As she drove past, he attempted to get into her vehicle. As she drove away, she called 911 and headed to the Sheriff’s Office in Eastsound. While on her way, she came upon Siek again in Moran State Park, where he tried to flag her down. He then allegedly got into his car and began tailgating the victim, who sped up to get away.

She pulled onto a residential road, hoping to find someone at their home who could help. She tried to turn around in a driveway when Siek allegedly appeared by her car with a small handgun and pointed it at her head. According to the victim, he said he was going to shoot her, and he would then kill himself. The victim drove away.

Multiple deputies responded to the emergency call, and a drone was deployed to search for the suspect. After what Sheriff Eric Peter called “an exhaustive investigation and search,” Siek was located and arrested without incident.

“Kudos to Deputies Ron Krebs, Isaac Norton, Sam Fowler, and Sergeant Bryce Peterson for their diligence in working this case for seven hours, culminating in the arrest of this suspect and protecting the safety of the victim in this case,” Peter said in a statement.

Siek’s criminal history includes operating a vehicle while intoxicated in Michigan.
