The Sheriff’s Office responded to the following.

Oct. 2

• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to a report of fraudulent activity occurring on Blakely Island. The incident is under investigation.

• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to a Welfare Check. The incident was forwarded to Compass Heath’s Designated Crisis Responders.

• Orcas deputies were dispatched to a Domestic Violence Protection Order Violation. An individual was later taken into custody and booked into the county jail.

• A deputy on Orcas met with a reporting party about a possible threats call. After speaking with the reporting party, a report was authored for informational purposes.

• A deputy on San Juan conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Beaverton Valley Road. The driver was issued an infraction for speeding; 54 mph in a 35 mph speed zone.

• Lopez deputies responded to a report of a hostile goat headbutting people on the soccer field during practice. The soccer players were able to successfully corral the goat back to its property before the deputies arrived. No goats or soccer players were injured.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a disorderly conduct call in Eastsound. Once the deputy arrived the suspect had already left on foot and was not able to be positively identified to be served a Trespass Warning Letter. The suspect was located the next day and the letter was issued.

Oct. 3

• A Lopez Island Deputy stopped a vehicle on Hummel Lake Road. The driver was subsequently issued an infraction for speeding 51 mph.

• A Lopez deputy was dispatched to a possible DUI in the Lopez Village. It was determined that an individual was experiencing a medical emergency and Lopez Island Fire & EMS were dispatched. The individual was airlifted to a higher level of care off-island.

• A San Juan deputy stopped a vehicle as it was displaying blue headlights and the registered owner had a suspended driver’s license. The driver was issued criminal citations for driving without an ignition interlock and DWLS third degree and infractions for no insurance and blue headlights.

Oct. 4

• Deputies on Orcas responded to a possible domestic near Deer Harbor. After all parties were contacted and the investigation was completed it was found to be a verbal argument.

• Deputies were dispatched to a trespassing in the Friday Harbor area. One person was issued a Warning Letter.

• San Juan deputies responded to a report of a DUI. The suspect was located and arrested on suspicion of DUI, Driving with a Suspended License in the Third Degree, Assault Third Degree, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer and Operating a Motor Vehicle without an Ignition Interlock Device.

• A Lopez deputy was dispatched to a hit-and-run motor vehicle collision that occurred at a local business. The suspect vehicle was seen leaving the scene.

Oct. 5

• An Orcas deputy took a report of a subject who caused a disturbance in the Seaview Theater during the screening of a movie. The subject allegedly stood up during the movie and began acting erratically causing several patrons of the theater to leave. The subject left without incident.

Oct. 6

• A San Juan deputy stopped a vehicle for driving left of center and failing to stop at a stop sign. The driver was arrested for DUI.

Oct. 7

• An Orcas deputy had contact with a reporting party who had concerns of trespassing by neighbors and construction workers on their property. No crime committed.

• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to an Accident Non-Injury.

• A Lopez deputy was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident. The vehicle had struck a power pole but caused minimal damage. The vehicle and the driver were gone by the time the officer arrived but were later located.

Oct. 8

• A deputy on San Juan responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian accident. The victim was transported to the ER for further care. The driver was issued infractions for failure to obey a traffic control device and failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Do not turn left onto Argyle Avenue from Nichols Street!
