Orcas Christian School is excited to welcome Kyler Morgan to its middle and high school faculty this school year. Morgan joins OCS after teaching in Chehalis, Washington, and has relocated to Orcas Island with his wife, Rachel, and their family. He will serve as a math and science teacher.

Before moving to Orcas, Morgan and his family lived in Chehalis and spent some time in Honolulu, Hawaii. These experiences exposed him to a variety of cultures and environments, which have broadened his understanding of how people live and connect.

Morgan grew up near Salem, Oregon, where he attended a Christian school for all 12 years of his education. His passion for learning led him to Walla Walla University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and minors in chemistry, biology, religion, history and education.

In addition to his work as a teacher, Morgan developed strong leadership and mentoring skills as a camp counselor in Northern California. These experiences have shaped his approach to education and his ability to connect with students personally.

Morgan’s impact at OCS is already evident in both faculty and students. John, an OCS student, described him as “great, amazing, the best teacher, really organized.”

Morgan’s colleague, Andy Rivera, has been impressed by Morgan’s ability to incorporate his skills into the classroom.

“Kyler combines youth and vigor with massive strategic, organizational and implementation skills,” Rivera said. “He takes ideas to implementation with aplomb. His experience, ability and wisdom belie his youth! He has a definite ‘growth mindset’ — continually asking, observing and learning from some of us older hands.”

Principal Terry Pottle added, “He brings a high level of energy and is filled with creative, fun ideas.”

Morgan is excited to call the Pacific Northwest home. He enjoys spending time outdoors, whether hiking, exploring or simply soaking in the region’s natural beauty. The landscapes of Orcas Island provide the perfect setting for his love of nature.

Outside of teaching, Morgan has a variety of hobbies. He enjoys playing guitar, staying active through sports and engaging with the outdoors. Photography is also a passion of his, offering a creative outlet to capture moments and share the beauty he sees.

Morgan’s life reflects a balance of learning, leadership and a strong sense of family and community. From his educational background to his personal experiences, he is dedicated to making a positive impact on others. His journey — from Oregon to Hawaii and now to Orcas Island — demonstrates his commitment to personal growth, connection and the power of teaching and learning.

As he joins the OCS faculty, Morgan looks forward to contributing to the school’s mission and helping to shape the next generation of learners. His diverse experiences and passion for education will be a valuable addition to the high school community at Orcas Christian School.
