VAC art opening at Orcas Center on Jan. 17

Submitted by the Orcas Center.

Join us for the first Art Show of 2025 at Orcas Center on Friday, Jan. 17, at 5:30 p.m., showcasing the art of our dedicated Visual Arts Committee.

About 20 years ago, a group of artists decided to take up the task of creating art exhibits at Orcas Center, and The Visual Arts Committee was born. No matter who has been on the committee in its various iterations, these amazing volunteers spend hundreds of hours each year working with community members, artists and cultural groups to bring engaging and visually compelling shows to the center.

For the first show of 2025, we honor the work of these dedicated artists and their tireless commitment to the arts on Orcas. Join us in celebrating the work of Kathy Youngren, Leon Rosenblatt, Mary Jane Elgin, Julia Summers, Sarah Crigger, Zoe Osenbach, Carol Ann Anderson, Kirk Nozaki, Marjorie Taylor, Julie Rusby, Brook Meinhardt and Avi Shmueli – our current VAC committee members.

Come to the art opening on Friday, Jan. 17, starting at 5:30 p.m. Meet the artists, and learn about their experience working in painting, ceramics, textiles, mixed-media, photography and more. Light refreshments will be served, and musical entertainment will be provided by island legend Ron Myers on the piano.

The Visual Arts Committee exhibit will be on display at Orcas Center from Jan. 17 through Feb. 11.
