Fast approaching is the 14th annual Orcas Center/Island Market/Red Rabbit Farm Golf Classic. Earlier than in the past, the Golf Classic will be on Saturday, Sept. 6, immediately following Labor Day weekend. All net proceeds of the Golf Classic support Orcas Center programs and operations.
In addition to its long-time title sponsor, Island Market, the Orcas Center welcomes Red Rabbit Farm, Christina Orchid’s newest catering venture, as a title sponsor. Two dozen other individuals and businesses have also sponsored the 2008 Golf Classic.
Featured “celebrity” players at the Golf Classic include winning members of the Orcas High School Golf Team, who won the second place trophy in the state tournament this year. Golfers of all skill levels are encouraged to participate, and registrants may play only nine holes if they choose. Prizes will be given for men’s, women’s and couple’s teams, best costume (the theme is the Three Stooges) and other accomplishments.
The Golf Classic will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast. At 11 a.m., tee time will be announced with a shotgun blast, and golfers will have lunch at the turn. Immediately following the game, there will be an awards ceremony and hearty buffet reception catered by Red Rabbit Farm.
Registration is $125 and includes greens’ fee, goodie bag, continental breakfast, lunch, reception buffet and hosted bar. The ticket price for the reception only is $25. New this year is the option to caddy for a celebrity golfer or friend – a $75 caddy registration includes all meals, goodie bag and the reception. For more information or to register, call 376-2281.
