At the annual Skyhawks Multi-sport camp on Orcas, children ages 7-12 play unique Skyhawk games incorporating soccer, baseball and basketball.
“There is no pressure, just lots of fun, while young athletes participate in all three sports through unique Skyhawks games. (It’s) designed to motivate children to lead a healthy active lifestyle while giving them the fundamental skill sets needed to succeed and grow in whichever sport they choose,” said Orcas Rec Coordinator Linda Sheridan.
This summer marks the camp’s fourth year, but organizers say they need to have 16 participants pre-registered by June 11, or Skyhawks will cancel the program.
The camp is scheduled for June 21-25, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Buck Park. The cost is $133.
Participants are asked to bring lunch, a snack, water, cleats, shoes for basketball and baseball, shin guards, hat, sun protection, and if possible, a soccer ball. All children will receive a t-shirt and merit award for participating; t-shirt sizes are ordered at pre-registration.
“I can attest from personal experience that these camps are a lot of fun for the kids, and there’s lots of skills growth that happens as well,” said former PTSA President Barb Skotte. “Please sign up if you can!”
