The Port of Orcas will host an informative meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 6:30 p.m. to explain the temporary flight rules, or TFR, related to the Olympics and Paraolympics hosted in Canada.
“The FAA puts these into effect for things like VIP visits, outdoor stadium events, et cetera, which means that pilots are barred from flying into those areas for the period of time designated,” airport manager Bea vonTobel said.
TFR will be in effect from the end of January to the middle of March.
Because of the TFR, pilots may be flying closer than normal to the north shore adjacent to the airport and residents there may hear more aircraft noise.
“Most of the presentation will deal with pilot concerns,” vonTobel said.
