County Councilman Alan Lichter’s re-election campaign received the endorsement of State Representative Jeff Morris (Democrat—40th District) this week.
Representative Morris has served the 40th District, which includes Orcas Island, since 1996. He is Speaker Pro Tem of the House Democratic Caucus and Chair of the Energy and Technology Committee.
Morris said this week: “As long as I’ve known Alan Lichter, he’s been a constant credible advocate for the interests of San Juan County. When emergencies come about he has been a steady hand of guidance towards the right solutions for San Juan County residents. He’s very knowledgeable about the wide array of issues that confront a council member, and a strong proponent for environmental issues and long-range planning. He has my support and endorsement for re-election.”
Orcas Island’s other State Representative, Dave Quall (Democrat—40th District), who chairs the House Education Committee, has also endorsed Alan Lichter. In his endorsement, Quall said: “I have had the privilege of working with Alan Lichter in his role as San Juan County Councilman and my role as State Representative for the Fortieth District. It has been our goal to work jointly for what’s in the best interest of the county he represents. We meet frequently in Olympia during session and communicate often. Alan Lichter is bright, conscientious, helpful, and collaborative in his leadership style. I admire him personally and give him my wholehearted endorsement.”
