The Island Sinfonia will conclude their 2010 spring season with a concert at the Orcas Center on Sunday, May 16, beginning at
2 p.m.
The program will feature two movements from Beethoven’s Third Symphony; music of Vaughan Williams including Norfolk Rhapsody, London Symphony, and the English Folk Song Suite; and a jazz piece for winds by Alec Wilder. The program will conclude with Finlandia, by Sibelius.
The Island Sinfonia, composed of 24 instrumentalists from Shaw, Lopez, San Juan, and Orcas island, has performed on each of the islands this spring, including a performance with the Orcas A Cappella Choir in March. A reception will follow the concert in the Madrona Room. Tickets are $10 for adults and children and students are free; and may be purchased through the Orcas Center Box Office.
