Orcas Christian High School students leaving for Costa Rica in March

Twelve Orcas Christian High School students and four adult sponsors will travel to Costa Rica for their annual mission trip from March 5 to 12.

This year the group will be working with Mission 517, an organization whose goal is to build a Christian summer camp for the children in the Playa Tamarindo area. Until the camp is completed, Mission 517 is working to establish a presence in the community by developing relationships with the children.

The OCS group will spend their week teaching in the public schools. They will be teaching science, physical education, and a vacation bible school type class, as well as helping with maintenance projects on campus.

“The students are excited to go, and I know they will be challenged by switching roles from student to teacher and especially by teaching in Spanish!” says Rachel Fox, trip coordinator.
