Orcas resident Shannon Laliberte was taken into custody last Wednesday morning after deputies responded to standoff at a private residence near the intersection of Crow Valley and West Beach Roads.
Laliberte, 33 years old, was invited into his in-laws’ home by his mother-in-law after she reportedly found him standing on her front lawn at about 9 a.m. with a revolver held to his head, threatening to pull the trigger unless he was allowed to talk to his estranged wife.
“He was considered dangerous to himself and to others,” Sheriff Bill Cumming said.
The man was taken into custody a short time later after fleeing the home and following a brief struggle with deputies, in which a taser was used to subdue him. He sustained minor injuries.
Laliberte is under investigation of violating the no contact order. He’s accused by his wife of repeatedly violating court orders and of stalking and harassing her since a protection order was approved.
