United Way extends an invitation to any individuals and other community organizations to join them on Saturday, Sept. 25 from 10 to 2 p.m. for the United Way of San Juan County’s annual “Day of Caring” on Orcas.
Recipients of giving this year which will include the Orcas Loving Care Home, Orcas Senior Center and individual seniors in need of some assistance.
This is a day that United Way grantee recipients and board members celebrate the community’s donations to the United Way by giving back a day of volunteer work.
Grant recipients this year included Orcas Family Connections – Family Resource Center, Orcas Island Prevention Partnership – Natural Helpers Program, the Orcas Family Health Center, Orcas Primary Intervention Program, Orcas Readiness to Learn, the Orcas Island Recreation Program – swimming and summer programs, Orcas Senior Center-Hearts and Hands program and the Orcas Montessori School. United Way provided approximately $33,000 to these Orcas organizations and over $115,000 countywide.
