The Orcas Island Sportsmen Club invites the public to come and win a Thanksgiving turkey at the 59th annual Turkey-Time Family Fun Shooting Contests on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010.

Adults and young shooters compete in different events, and a hamburger, chili and soda lunch will be served for $6 in our heated clubhouse.

Prizes will be turkeys and steaks, with one prize to be awarded for each six shooters. Guaranteed tickets are $25 and single individual contest tickets are $5.

In the buddy-team and sporting clays shoot, pairs compete for a grand prize that includes a turkey, steaks and a roast for each of the winning buddies. The buddy shoot is $5, and contestants may enter as many times as they wish.

Contests are conducted in small-bore rifle, trap shooting and sporting clays. Ammunition, youth sized firearms and new shooter instruction are available for the events.

“Club restrictions on ammunition and safety will, as always, be in effect,” organizers say. “Safety eye and ear protection will be available, but please bring your own if you have them.”

The event runs from from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 1906 Enchanted Forest Road. For more information, call Alan Voorhees at 376-7626 or call the club on Nov. 20 at 376-5660.
