Otters Pond Bed and Breakfast of Orcas Island received a commemorative plate for being selected by the University of Georgia to submit recipes for inclusion in the national menu awards competition among food services departments across the nation.
This March, the university sponsored an event called “Sunset Breakfast—Dawn Inspired Dishes Served at Dusk” in the Otters Pond recipe was featured in the “Extraordinary Egg Entrees” for sweet potato hash with poached eggs and smoked salmon and the breakfast treats category for lemon buttermilk bread pudding with blackberry sauce.
The extensive menu was served at dinner to more than 8300 students and participants. The focus of the event was to give attendees the dining experience of breakfast at bed and breakfast establishments from across the United States.
