MPC Sports Worldwide recently opened a corporate office in Eastsound. Run by two college students who grew up on Orcas, Merrick Parnell and Edward Coe, the company will represent professional athletes to the media, teams, and sponsors for product endorsements.
The MPC Sports Worldwide cliental consists of a professional football quarterback, a team BMW and Rolex Le Mens driver, several Major League and English Premier League soccer players.
“I have always loved sports, and in the eleventh grade I became really interested in the business side of it. I realized that being a player-agent would be the next best thing to being a professional athlete,” Parnell said.
Coe said, “Ever since we were younger we wanted to be business partners, and always entertained the idea of representing athletes in some type of fashion.”
MPC’s first breakthrough came recently when their company secured all-access press and agent credentials to the sold out Barcelona VS Seattle Soccer match held at Qwest Field on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
Coe says with their new credentials they were able to interview players and owners face-to-face on the field and in the locker rooms after the game.
Parnell and Coe lived on Orcas Island the majority of their lives. Parnell graduated from Orcas Christian and Coe from Orcas High School.
Parnell and Coe plan to develop their company and contacts while completing their college degrees.
