San Juan County’s homes are the most expensive in the state, and rank 39th in the nation for costliness, according to a new article by the Puget Sound Business Journal.

With a median home price of $487,500, San Juan County outranks even King County, at $398,600. The nation’s most expensive homes are on Nantuckett Island, with a median home price of at least $1,000,001 – and the story says the number is probably higher, because that’s where the American Census Bureau’s scale stops.

Runners-up for spendiest county were Marin County, Calif., and New York County, New York, where Manhattan is located.
