I’m writing to tell you about our new album, entitled “The Orcas Sessions,” a 6-track unplugged EP recorded on Orcas in collaboration with Gene Nery.

Roland and I consider Orcas Island our home away from home, and loved being part of the community last spring and summer. Releasing our debut album “Won’t Give Up” at the Outlook Inn with friends and family last June was just unforgettable. Being on Orcas means making music to us, in particular with our good friend Gene Nery, who truly completes us musically.

The idea to record “The Orcas Sessions” came about when Gene, Roland and I were rehearsing for a performance on the Green last summer, and we realized we just had to record some songs while we were together, since we only get to make music together once a year! We recorded the songs in Gene’s Studio Hideout, and Roland did some additional recording and the mixing and mastering in Stolk Music Studio when we got back to Holland. Gene and Roland have been sending additional tracks to each other over the internet the past few months to finish off the album.

Roland and Gene really did an amazing job making music together, despite being 7,000 miles away from each other! The result is a true transcontinental production, proving there are no boundaries when it comes to good music and lasting friendships!

“The Orcas Sessions” is dedicated to and inspired by the Orcas Island community, whom we so wish we could share this album with in person! We truly hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it.
