Council needs to take action on vacation rentals

This festering issue of overcrowding of our county by an invasion of visitors and the quick reaction of many to build accessory dwelling units for their accommodation is troubling.

Since the fall of 2018, meetings were held on Orcas that identified this overcrowding. Now we have had many meetings in 2019 and going into 2020 the council, the major protectors of our way of life, has done little to ameliorate the situation. Meeting after meeting by thoughtful citizens and hours spent to protect our way of life seems to have no effect on the council. I am an impatient person to be sure, but surely we should get a yes, a no or a plan from the council.

So it appears perhaps we need to sweep the decks clear of the council that gets twice the annual salary of the councilmembers of Whatcom County, who represent not 16,700 citizens but over 220,000.
