We were recently told in response to a question regarding county funding for maintenance of the basic infrastructure to “get used to” less maintenance.

It is understandable that county budget belt tightening will in the short term occur. “Get used to it” is a negative defeatist statement indicating that we must accept things getting worse.

This country has been through difficult economic times before. We managed to survive and also build our lives through hard work and creativity.

Times now are difficult for many.

We cannot allow our hope for a better future to be lost as well.
