I write in praise of Orcas Island’s Emergency Medical services. When Dr. Geifer urged that my medical condition dictated immediate off-island hospital treatment, a call to “911” elicited immediate response. While I was far too disoriented to recognize all those responding, I do specifically remember the comforting words of Julie Remington and Pat Shepler. I was whisked away to UW Medical by helicopter and am now again home recuperating from a nasty bout with pneumonia. My deepest gratitude to our island caregivers.
