I read with horror the letter “Why Streetlights?” by Lynda Johnson in the July 8 issue of the Sounder.

I am 90 years old and was born and raised in Eastsound. I still have property in Eastsound. The idea of streetlights is a nightmare to me. I like the idea of gravel paths rather than sidewalks with curbs.

I would hope some of the “rustic charm” of Eastsound and our island would remain.
