The final notes of the Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival have faded away. Now the reflections, memories and knowledge that we are all a part of something truly extraordinary sustain us throughout the year. On behalf of Board President Sam Coleman and the entire OICMF board, and Executive Director Anita Orne and the OICMF staff, I would personally like to thank everyone for making our 21st Festival Season a resounding success filled with glorious music. At the center of the festival, our phenomenal artists performed J.S. Bach’s complete Brandenburg Concertos. It’s hard to put into words what was felt by each artist and each audience member; both playing and listening to this magnificent music makes me believe the world is a better place.
OICMF is not just about the music but is also about relationships, both new and old. We are one unified family. We are open and inviting, and encouraging in a variety of roles. We love playing for kids, for seniors, for islanders and for visitors. Everyone has contributed in some way, large or small, to the operation of the festival. Each role is vital. To all our amazing volunteers, to those who create the beauty of the gorgeous flowers everywhere, to the chefs who provide incredible meals, to the homes opened to our musicians, to our generous donors and sponsors, to the artists, and to so many more: we thank you. OICMF is something far beyond a single dream, and far beyond people buying tickets and attending concerts. We’ve all helped realize something that is genuinely remarkable and unique to our special corner of the world: Orcas Island. I look forward to the next chapter, complete with its challenges and rewards. It’s a privilege to be part of this community and to bring music and so much more to everyone.
