The Orcas Island Recreation Program would like to thank the United Way of San Juan County for helping support three of our 2010 swimming programs with a generous grant. Because of their support Orcas Rec was able to plan, organize, and implement three separate swimming sessions in the past few months. Each session was four weeks long, with about 40 children age’s five to twelve. Beginners to advanced swimmers were taught by our amazing instructor Suzey Frank at the Orcas Spa and Athletics pool. We would like to thank Suzey for her years of continued commitment to teaching the youth of Orcas how to swim and be safe in the water. Swimming is an important life skill for all children to have as they grow into adults, and having a positive experience while learning this skill is equally important. Orcas Rec would not be able to offer this fabulous program without generous sponsors like the United Way. Thank you for your support!
