This letter is in response to the article in last week’s Sounder by Joseph Murphy in regards to the Eastsound Airport construction project. This construction has been planned for several years, along with other airport improvement projects coming up in the future. The majority of the projects are for safety improvements and these improvements will benefit all that live on this island and not just for local aviation needs.
So I respectfully suggest that instead of sending your lawyer over to assess the situation as you stated that you come to one of our monthly port meetings. We welcome you and anybody else that have questions regarding the Eastsound Airport. During these monthly port meetings, we discuss ongoing and upcoming projects as well as other airport business.
Our next scheduled port meeting will be on Thursday, May 11, at 4:30 p.m.
Dwight Guss, Commissioner, Port of Orcas
