I was pleased to see the political editorial “Valentine’s Day in a time of unrest” in the Feb. 6 edition of the Sounder. I know many folks in our community will disagree with your comments about immigration, and about President Trump. That is as it should be; after all, it’s a signed editorial – not hard news.
What I value most about this editorial is that the Sounder, by discussing national politics, implicitly recognizes that many of its readers feel deeply affected by broad, national issues. We are an island; but we are not isolated. The Islands’ Sounder serves its readership well by including both the local and the national.
