Last week on Wednesday, June 13 – Friday, June 15, your community’s blood drives registered a total of 197 donors.
• Friday Harbor: 98 registered donors
• Orcas Island: 78 registered donors
• Lopez Island: 21 registered donors
We welcomed a total of 16 first-time-donors to the Bloodworks Northwest Family, and collected a total of 159 units of whole blood, nine units of platelets, and one unit of plasma, benefitting as many as 487 patients in hospitals throughout the Pacific Northwest. The blood donations collected at the blood drive are critical to maintaining a stable blood supply for surgeries, medical emergencies, and for supporting patients battling life-threatening illnesses like leukemia and other cancers.
Thanks to all the donors who took time out of their busy day to donate blood! With great appreciation to the Lions Clubs for coordinating the drives, our hosting locations at Mullis Community Senior Center, Eastsound Fire Department, and Lopez Island’s Community Church in the Village, and all those who helped support the events. We could not complete our life-saving work without you.
Each day, 800 people must donate blood to meet the needs of patients in hospitals. Your blood drive played an important role in helping to meet that goal.
The next island drives will be: Wednesday, August 15 – Friday, August 17
