My heartfelt thanks to Dr. Tony Giefer of the Orcas Island Medical Center for discovering the tumor in my lung before it had a chance to spread. He not only proved his ability as an excellent physician, but also as a patient and sensitive counselor.

Thank you, also, to the thoughtful members of our wonderful community who supported me though this rough period: the meals you brought when I returned from hospital; the cards, visits, phone calls and kind words on my CaringBridge website; the relaxation massage; and chauffeuring and shopping for me when I couldn’t drive. Such an outpouring of spirit served as the best healing force imaginable!

I especially want to convey my overwhelming gratitude for Jeff, who was not only there for me during and following the surgery, but also supported me through the family deaths that preceded it.
