Rick Hughes has the experience, the maturity and the connections needed to be an effective San Juan County Councilman.
When Rick was in the Council, he was instrumental and moving forward with some of our critical infrastructure. He was behind the planning for the Prune Alley project, which turned out beautiful and solved the stormwater problems and lack of any sidewalk there.
Rick coordinated and pushed to completion the building of the commuter parking lot at Orcas Landing.
He was also instrumental in improving Orcas Road between Nordstrom Road and the Exchange, a 1.5-mile stretch that was very dangerous and a project that was sorely needed for safe bicycle and pedestrian usage.
Rick Hughes did a lot trying to help with getting us better ferry service, including all the times he went down to Olympia where things can get done about it. He will continue to help us solve this major issue.
Just recently, Rick spoke out to the Board of Directors of Eastsound Water Users Association, helping to stop the spurious recall that was overturned by a landslide vote!
Rick is very levelheaded, reasonable and one of the nicest people I know. He has lived in the islands for many decades and loves the people here. That’s why I am voting for Rick Hughes!
