I question the wisdom and efforts by the county to file charges against Colton Harris Moore (the barefoot bandit) and undertake the expense and time to take those charges through the court.
To undertake this action with no possibility of recovering the costs to do this nor compensation to those that lost property (possibly covered by insurance) seems utterly foolish during these dire economic times. Is it for revenge that we want for the problems that this dysfunctional kid caused our community? At what expense? It appears that the Federal charges levied against Moore will certainly prevail and that punishment meted out will surely address his antisocial behavior. Justice will be achieved and the taxpayers will be spared thousands of dollars in litigation.
