In September 2019, Saya will travel from her home in Japan to become a 10th grade student at Orcas High School for the entire academic year 2019-20. She was fortunate to have had the opportunity to visit OHS in March and was amazed and elated by the welcome she received from students, teachers and coaches. Her home town is Yokohama, a part of greater Tokyo, which has a population equal to that of California. In an understatement, Saya found Orcas “to be very different and very beautiful.”
Saya plays the piano and plans to be involved in music at OHS. Drawing is a passion for Saya, and she can see herself as an illustrator and author one day. Saya loves animals and has two dogs. And while she’s here, Saya would happily share aspects of Japanese culture with her host family and friends.
I invite Orcas families who are interested in becoming a host family or would like to know more about what is involved to call or email me at 360-376-1465 or choicepaths@gmail.com.
