Linda Kirtz’s pastel paintings of American Camp on San Juan Island will be featured at the Orcas Island Artworks through the month of October.
“I first saw the San Juans in the 1970s with a team of artists who were visiting elementary schools in the area,” Kirtz said. “I fell in love with the light, terrain and buildings at American Camp. In 2006 I was able to live in Eagle Cove, right next door to the park.”
Inspired by the changing light of the seasons, Kirtz has been working on these paintings ever since.
A graduate of George Washington University with a major in fine arts, Kirtz spent time studying art in Europe before settling in the Pacific Northwest. She moved to Orcas Island in 2009.
The Artworks is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
