Caleb Klauder and Reeb Willms with Golden Shoals team up for an intimate concert at Orcas Center on Friday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m.
When East Coast meets West Coast in the Folk music world, there are no turf wars or diss tracks, there is only joyful collaboration.
As a duo, and as 2/4 of Foghorn Stringband, Caleb Klauder & Reeb Willms have been waving the flag of Old Time and Classic Country in the PNW years. Golden Shoals (Amy Alvey and Mark Kilianski) first called Boston, MA home, then a Chevy Camper van and Asheville, NC, before settling in Nashville, TN (Amy) and Vancouver, BC (Mark). Mark’s move out west sparked a connection with Caleb and Reeb as they outlasted all the other jammers at the annual Wintergrass festival in Seattle in 2022 and ‘23.
Respectively, these two duos have toured clubs, house concerts, and festival stages across the country and around the world. Though they’ve been in similar orbits for years, this tour marks their first time sharing the stage together.
“When Amy and I were starting out 10 years ago, Caleb and Reeb were huge inspirations musically, as well as role models for what a career in this genre of music can look like,” says Kilianski. “It’s a dream to collaborate with them.”
Slated for Seattle, Bellingham, Vancouver (BC), Olympia, and Orcas Island, these concerts promise to be a warm, intimate experience, treating audiences to the conversationalism and spontaneity that come naturally to musical duos. Each show will culminate with all four musicians on stage reveling in 3- and 4-part harmonies, and rollicking fiddle tunes.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.OrcasCenter.org, over the phone at 360-376-2281 x 100, or in-person Tuesday – Friday 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., and an hour prior to showtime. Ticket prices range from $18-$63 with a $2 per ticket fee. There are six $5 tickets available for this performance subsidized by our generous donors – These are available on a first-come/first serve basis by contacting the Box Office.
