Orcas Island Prevention Partnership (OIPP) invites the Orcas Island community to a magical evening with Swil Kanim, violinist and story teller extraordinaire. Swil will perform at the Partnership’s Annual Membership meeting Monday, May 19 at 7 p.m. at the Orcas Senor Center. OIPP Director Moriah Armstrong said, “Through his music and stories Swil Kanim speaks from the heart about honoring self and community. He encourages all to connect to their own sense of honor and integrity, especially when it comes to caring well for self and others. Orcas has been extremely fortunate to have Swil perform at the Orcas Island Schools last fall and most recently at the Odd Fellows, so if you missed him or want to hear more, here is your chance!”
The Partnership will hold a brief business meeting to elect Board Members and amend its by-laws at 7 p.m. followed by a short photo report highlighting its work to support a safe and healthy community free of substance abuse. OIPP will honor the many organizations and individuals who work together supporting a safe and healthy community and recognize an organization, an individual, and a youth for their contributions to the prevention of substance abuse.
Swil Kanim’s performance will start at 7:30 p.m. There will be beverages and treats too, says Armstrong. “It’s the Prevention Partnership’s way of saying thanks to our community for all it does for children, families, and community.” For more information, call OIPP at 376-1547.
