Crow Valley Pottery announces its 14th annual “Garden Art Show.”
Owners Michael Rivkin and Jeffri Coleman say it is recognized as the “unofficial ‘Welcome Summer’ event on Orcas.”
The June 24 show opening also introduces new artists and their work. Local offerings include all manner of ceramics by well known local Robin Rodenberger, from bird feeders to garden sculpture. Maria Root has created new work in her “Garden Spa” series, as well as finials, totems and other decorative pieces.
Another Crow Valley favorite, Conway metal sculptor Arnie Garborg, has created an apple tree.
“This 81-year-old artist’s work shows in many important collections, and makes a special addition to the Crow Valley show,” said Rivkin.
Allison Hoagland offers her glass garden ferns and “tigger-tails” in new colors just for this show. Garden gongs, tiles, handmade flower pots, vases and more round out the offerings this year.
“But the big news this year is that the Crow Valley Garden Show coordinates with the Orcas Island Garden Club ‘Orcas Garden Tour,’” says Rivkin.
Garden Tour ticket holders are offered a 10 percent discount on items at “The Cabin” shop during the tour on Saturday and Sunday.
“We really want to show our commitment to the gardens of Orcas, but especially share our own passion for gardening,” Coleman said.
The Crow Valley Garden Art Show opens Friday, June 24 from 4 to 7 p.m., with an artist’s reception at the historic shop on Orcas Road. Music by Carolyn Cruso and snacks are part of the celebration. Call the shop at 376-4260 for additional information.
The show runs through July 5.
