Best-selling Seattle authors Jennie Shortridge and Erica Bauermeister will each read from their new novels at Darvill’s Bookstore on Thursday, May 13 at 7 p.m. Books by the authors will be available (in paperback) for purchase and signing, and light refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public.
“It is very seldom that we are able to host two best-selling authors, and we consider ourselves very fortunate to host this event,” Jenny Pederson, owner of Darvill’s, enthused. “We think both these novels are very strong, and should have a number of fans.”
“When She Flew” is Shortridge’s fourth novel, and is based on a true events that happened in Portland, Ore. a few years ago. It traces the discovery of an Iraqi war vet and his young daughter who were found living in the woods near the city, and their relationship with one of the police officers who found them. Shortridge’s last book, “Love and Biology at the Center of the Universe,” was also highly acclaimed.
Bauermeister’s book, “The School of Essential Ingredients,” is her first novel, and has been given excellent reviews by a number of media sources, including “Publisher’s Weekly,” “The Seattle Times,” and “People” magazine. The story is set among of a cooking class of eight students, who meet once a month in a restaurant to learn gourmet cooking skills from Lillian, their very memorable teacher.
