If you have an elementary-age child who likes to sing and sing along to favorite songs, the Kids’ Chorus is for them!
They will have fun singing popular favorites and some traditional songs as well as learning and even writing new songs.
The Funhouse Commons, Orcas Island Music Advocacy Group and Orcas Choral Society are collaborating to continue the Orcas Youth Chorus program this fall, starting with an elementary Kids’ Chorus for grades 1 to 5 (ages 6 through 11). Children from all Orcas schools including home schools are welcome in the Kids’ Chorus.
The chorus will be taught by Mary Wachter, a well-known local teacher and musician who is also the Music Facilitator for Funhouse Commons, and will meet at the Funhouse on Fridays from 3:30 to 4:30 pm, Oct. 25 to Dec. 20. Funhouse staff will collect participants from the public and Christian schools with the Afterschool Program groups and head to the Funhouse.
The cost is $50 for the eight classes (no class Nov. 29) with registration athttps://www.funhousecommons.org/registration-kidschorus.
The Funhouse Commons, Orcas Choral Society and the Music Advocacy Group plan to cosponsor the older Orcas Youth Chorus program for 6th to 12th grades starting in January.
