On Aug. 29, come meet Dr. Joe Gaydos, one of the authors of “Explore the Salish Sea: A Nature Guide for Kids,” to hear about the launch of this book that hopes to inspire children to learn about the unique ecosystem that encompasses the coastal waters from Seattle’s Puget Sound up to British Columbia. This event will be held at The Whale Museum at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 29, as part of The Whale Museum’s Author Series. Dr. Gaydos will also be available to sign books.
Dr. Joe Gaydos is chief scientist for the SeaDoc Society, a marine science and conservation organization focused on the Salish Sea. He is a licensed wildlife veterinarian and has a PhD in wildlife health. For over a decade he has been studying the fish and wildlife of the Salish Sea. The SeaDoc Society published this book for the next generation. In Explore the Salish Sea: A Nature Guide for Kids, readers will discover the Salish Sea and learn about its vibrant ecosystem in this engaging non-fiction narrative that inspires outdoor exploration. Filled with full-color photography and stories, this book covers wildlife habitats, geodiversity, intertidal and subtidal sea life, and highlights what is unique to this Pacific Northwest ecosystem.
