Submitted by the San Juan Islands Conservation District.

Did somebody say sheep and mini cows? Salves, tinctures, and salts? Apple pressing and pear tasting?? It must be time for the annual Farm Tours of the San Juans! This do-not-miss event is packing a bigger punch every year and 2024 will not disappoint. With over 40 FREE and paid experiences spread across three vibrant weekends, there’s something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

Mark your calendars and invite your family and friends. Tours take place September 27-29 on San Juan Island; October 4-6 on Orcas Island; and October 11-13 on Lopez Island. Full details and activity maps are available online at www.farmtourssanjuans.com.

Whether you’re a lover of fresh food, a sustainable agriculture enthusiast, or want to connect with community and learn new things, each island offers a unique set of experiences showcasing the rich food and ag landscape of the San Juans. Enjoy guided farm tours, farm-to-table meals, picking produce straight from the fields, plus workshops and demonstrations by local experts.

Helpful touring tips include: Pack a cooler to keep your farm-fresh goodies safe for the ride home, carpooling to reduce carbon emissions and traffic on sites, always respecting the rules of the farm you’re visiting, wearing appropriate attire for being out in the fields and leaving pets at home.
