Brought to you by the San Juan County Washington State University Extension and Coffelt Farm Stewards, Dr. Susan Kerr, NW Regional Livestock and Dairy Extension specialist, will lead a lambing and kidding workshop.
• March 1: 10 a.m.-3 p.m., West Sound Community Hall, 525 Deer Harbor Road, Orcas Island.
• March 2: 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Coffelt Farm, 1071 Crow Valley Road, Orcas Island.
On day one, learn about diseases of pregnancy, pregnancy ketosis, lambing presentations, neonatal care, biosecurity, principles of reproduction and get questions answered.
On day two, there will be carcass tube feeding and IP dextrose injections, lamb presentations and necropsy on neonates. Bring your frozen deceased lamb/kid if you want to complete your own necropsy.
