Emmanuel Episcopal Church and the Music Committee welcomes guitarist Jeffry Steele for his second performance with the Music At Emmanuel concert at noon on Wednesday, July 27.
Steele studied guitar as a teen. In his first career as teacher and performer on guitar in the Boston area he was reviewed as “a splendid musician” [BostonThe Globe] who “plays a mean guitar” [Boston Phoenix]. He next moved into school music education and obtained a masters in Music Composition from New England Conservatory. Steele has composed music for public television, choirs, ensembles, and modern dance productions. In 2012 he completed a second masters to qualify for his current position as Mental Health Therapist. In 2018 he purchased an 8-string guitar and with sonic rewards that outweigh the physical challenges, it has unexpectedly become his instrument of choice.
There is no admission charge but donations are appreciated for the Virgil Cleveland Memorial Scholarship, awarded every year to deserving Orcas students.
