The art of Richard Haffey will be featured in the Lundeen Room of the Orcas Senior Center during the month of May.
A graduate of Chouinards Institute, Haffey’s interest in caricature drawings began in middle school. During his army service, Haffey created training aids which included how to draw a likeness of a person from verbal description for identification purposes.
Haffey was employed by Westways Magazine as an assistant art director and for several advertising agencies before working for Mattel Toys for nearly 30 years as a graphic designer, art director and manager.
In retirement, Haffey has pursued his interest in caricature drawings, oil painting and animal portraits. As part of the Art in the School Program, he introduced cartooning to elementary classes at the Orcas Public Schools.
