With more than 100 nonprofits serving this community, the opportunities for board service is great. The Orcas Island Community Foundation is hosting a workshop for individuals who want to learn more about nonprofit board service from 9:30-11:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 5, at the Emmanuel Parish Hall.

Content will be geared toward those who are new to board service or who are considering future service. Topics will include rules and responsibilities, how to assess organizational culture to assure a good fit, understanding financial statements and more.
