This Friday, Sept. 26 is your last chance of the year to catch Mandy Troxel and the Bitter Ends, performing live at the Random Howse. They’ll be playing from 7 – 9 p.m. The band debuted this year to rolicking enthusiasm, and looks forward to returning for more in 2015.
The Bitter Ends are John Polstra on pedal steel, Anita Orne on stand up bass, Bruce Harvie on guitar and mandolin and Mandy Troxel on guitar and vocals. They formed after working together on Mandy’s cd “If Only Words Could Keep Me Warm”, having had such a grand time they decided to make it a regular thing. During this upcoming gig the Bitter Enders are sad to be minus John and his pedal steel, but are welcoming fiddle player Leah Ballou as an honored guest.
Come prepared to sing and dance along to favorite country standards by Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline and Buck Owens, as well as some dashes of folk, bluegrass and old timey tunes. There’ll be a number of originals as well, including songs from Mandy’s latest release, and some new ones too. Local songstress Susan Osborne heralds Mandy “the real deal!”. It’s some kind of deal for sure, as there’s no cover charge (filling the tip jars is appreciated), and sure to be an evening that will have you tapping your toes (and occasionally dropping a tear in your beer).
