Sharon Abreu and Michael Hurwicz will host a celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Emmanuel Parish Hall, 242 Main Street in Eastsound from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19.
All are invited to share a song, poem, thought, short story or short reading from one of Dr. King’s speeches.
Some songs will be shared and led by Sharon Abreu and Michael Hurwicz, Revivify and several more local performers including Tom Rawson; Dave Zoeller; Bob Phalan; and Mike Speece. Susan Slapin will offer a “Community Creative Mandala” project which attendees can participate in before and during the event.
Admission is free. Donations are welcome and will benefit the Orcas Food Bank, the Emmanuel Parish Community Dinner Kitchen and the Network of Spiritual Progressives.
Refreshments will be provided – more are welcome! This event is co-sponsored by the Emmanuel Episcopal Parish and Irthlingz Arts-Based Environmental Education.
