On Wednesday, Feb. 26 postal employee Oshen Schiweck lowered the stars and stripes for the last time at the Olga Post Office.
Built nearly 60 years ago, the small red building outgrew its space and will soon be moving across the street into the recently community-purchased Olga Store. Curiously, the Olga Store was the site of hamlet’s first post office.
Until the new site is ready, Olga’s PO Box holders will travel to the Eastsound Post Office to retrieve their mail.
