Orcas Center’s Fall Season has something for everyone with great concerts, comedy, theatre, and community favorites. Kicking off the 2022-2023 season over Labor Day weekend is the Orcas Island Jazz Festival (OIJF) under the artistic direction of Martin Lund. Pearl Django, Pete Kirkland with Lady V, as well as Martin Lund and The Off-Island All-Stars are all set to grace the Orcas Center mainstage this year.
Already in rehearsal for the season is a community production of The Cake, (opening September 15 in the Black Box) and a special multi-media musical production by Rafe Pearlman: KANU.
Also performing this fall are The Paperboys, who blend Celtic folk with bluegrass, Mexican, Eastern European, African, zydeco, soul and country influences; Talisk, a Scottish Folk Band; Tony Furtado Trio and Stephanie Schniederman Trio (featuring John Reischman, Jenny Conlee-Drizos and more!), the great comedy duo of David and Ken, and Gangstagrass who combine great American traditions of bluegrass, hip-hop, and beyond to create a whole new musical genre that is more than the sum of its parts.
For the performers among us, get ready for the return of Whale of a Show this October – the great community talent showcase! More information on how to get involved will be posted on the Orcas Center website in the weeks to come.
Tickets for many events are already available for purchase online at www.OrcasCenter.org. Sign up for the Sunday newsletter on the site (at the bottom of the page), to stay informed of upcoming shows, audition notices, calls for artists, and other great community info!
