WINNER OF THE 2022 HONORARY MAYOR’S RACE!

Submitted by Orcas Island Children’s House.

Mayor Ricky handed off the key to the city on Saturday, July 2, following Eastsound’s Annual Fourth of July Parade. Congratulations to Sweet Girl Love, our new Mayor! May she bring love, love, love, and happiness to Orcas Island during her term!

Just under $20,000 was raised during this year’s Mayoral Campaign, which supports Orcas Island Children’s House, a toddler learning center and preschool located in Eastsound, WA. Each dollar helps ensure they can provide quality early education to island children, regardless of their ability to pay.

Children’s House believes that what happens early in life matters and provides a nurturing and loving environment for children up to age five. They aim to cultivate Wonder and Discovery in the hearts and minds of young children and believe these dispositions build a foundation for learning that lasts a lifetime.

Orcas Island Children’s House is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Fundraisers like the Mayor’s Race help them keep tuition affordable for all families. This is more important than ever as families face great uncertainty and financial hardships. Children’s House would like to thank all campaign managers and constituents for running a good race and for helping raise awareness and money for their program.
