Submitted by the Orcas Island Lit Fest.

The Orcas Island Lit Fest invites authors to participate in the OILF Fall Lit Walk, set for the evenings of Sept. 13 and Sept. 14, 2024.

This new event marks a standalone expansion of a beloved literary event, and will feature readings at numerous venues in the village of Eastsound and downtown Anacortes.

The Lit Walk celebrates the literary talents of the Pacific Northwest, while promoting the efforts of authors from San Juan County (SJC) and its neighbors, offering local writers a platform to reach both island residents and visitors. For the first time, this year’s event will include a special opportunity reserved for SJC writers in downtown Anacortes, amplifying their work to a broader audience.

Event Details

· Dates: Friday, Sept. 13 and Saturday, Sept. 14.

· Locations: Downtown Anacortes (Friday) and Village of Eastsound (Saturday).

· Reading Duration: Each reading will last between 5–8 minutes.

Submission Guidelines:

· Open to authors with published works in genres including poetry, fiction, nonfiction, biography, and memoir.

· Submissions for academic lectures or writing workshops will not be considered.

· Preference will be given to works published within the last 18 months.

The Lit Walk represents an inclusive array of voices and encourages participation from writers of diverse backgrounds. Each reading session will feature four authors and a host, providing a vibrant mix of literary expressions.

Application deadline: Sunday, June 16, 11:59 p.m.

Interested authors are encouraged to submit their proposals through the OILF website at www.oilf.org.
